CONNECTED THINGS – AN INTRODUCTION TO IOT

On March 16th, 2024, the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab at MES College of Engineering (MESCE) was a hive of activity as it hosted the “Connected Things” workshop. This event, held in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, was a collaborative effort by the IoT Lab, SDC MESCE, IEDC MESCE, in association with Matrics and AECE MESCE. The workshop was specifically designed for Semester 6 BTECH students, offering an engaging introduction to the world of IoT.

Led by Mr. Arjun P Joseph, an esteemed ATAL Lab Instructor from MES Central School Tirur, the workshop aimed to equip students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in IoT. Mr. Joseph’s expertise and interactive approach made the complex concepts of IoT accessible and intriguing for all participants.

Throughout the workshop, students were introduced to the core components of IoT systems, including sensors, connectivity, and data processing. The hands-on sessions allowed participants to experiment with IoT setups, providing them with a tangible understanding of how IoT devices communicate and function in real-world applicationsThe collaborative effort in organising this workshop was evident in the seamless execution and well-structured curriculum. The involvement of various departments and associations ensured a comprehensive learning experience, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of IoT technology. 

The event consisted of a small but productive and cohesive group of over 22 students The participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing appreciation for the practical exposure and insightful instruction provided by Mr. Arjun P Joseph. Their feedback will be invaluable in refining future workshops to enhance educational outcomes and keep abreast of technological advancements.

In summary, the “Connected Things” workshop was a successful initiative by IEDC MESCE and its partners to introduce students to IoT. The workshop not only broadened the participants’ understanding of IoT but also inspired them to explore further in this rapidly evolving field.
